Writer-In-Residence
FIE’s writer-in-residence holds regular “surgery” hours, providing one-on-one advice on any piece of writing: academic, creative or professional. These tutorials aim to improve students’ writing skills in such areas as research, planning, structure, argument, introductions, conclusions, grammar, punctuation, voice and drafting. The writer-in-residence service complements the various courses for credit by supplying students with guidance that caters to their specific needs.
The writer-in-residence works closely with FIE faculty, staff and visiting faculty to design tailor-made tutorials and workshops, providing specific support within the context of certain course requirements. For example, she is available to lead sessions on writing good Curriculum Vitae and cover letters for internship and work-study programs.
The writer-in-residence program gives students access to the advice of a professional fiction writer. The writer-in-residence encourages students to gain insight into the literary world by organizing poetry readings and discussion sessions with guest speakers and visiting writers.
