The Foundation for International Education (www.fie.org.uk) is an international higher education organisation with over 25 years of expertise in developing and managing experiential learning experiences.  Working in partnership with universities and colleges, primarily from the US, we provide immersive study abroad programmes for undergraduate students in London, Dublin, Madrid, Barcelona and Amman.

FIE is currently seeking qualified, confident and reliable applicants for the following part-time, fixed term position (12-month contract  renewable subject to operational requirements) with an early April start date. The position is live-in, and based in a student residence hall located in the Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, where the successful candidate will be responsible for providing pastoral care to undergraduate students.

Job Title: Residence Life Supervisor (RLS)

Location: London, Kensington and Chelsea

Salary: £9,550 gross, per annum, from which £1,614 gross will be deducted per annum for subsidised accommodation in a student residence in London

Start Date: 1st April 2025

Job Summary:

The Residence Life Supervisor’s key responsibilities are to promote and support FIE’s Residence Life mission, providing a welcoming and inclusive living and learning environment for students.  The RLS will act as first point of contact for students, offering guidance and support, and assist students during emergent residence and community concerns and emergencies as/when they arise.

 

Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree or equivalent
  • Experience working with students and/or in a people centred role
  • A flexible approach to working hours
  • Strong intercultural and interpersonal communication skills, with a student-centred philosophy
  • Ability to work under pressure and to use initiative
  • Sound judgement and ability to determine the level of seriousness of a situation
  • Excellent administrative, organisational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Competence in working both independently and within a team environment
  • A broad knowledge of London as an educational and social resource
  • A good knowledge of the US and its people

 

Desired Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience working with first year and undergraduate students
  • Knowledge of and experience in residence life and/or student services
  • Crisis management skills
