General Information
Whether it’s daily meals or weekend fun, making the most of your money whilst abroad will ensure you get the most value out of your study abroad journey! Remember, spending more doesn’t always equate to getting more out of the experience. Staying local, getting to know the city and country in which you are studying is usually more economical, more environmentally friendly and will offer more opportunities to immerse yourself in the culture and to know locals. Think hard about your true goals for your study abroad experience and how to meet them – this often can be done without a lot of expenditure or material things.
Top tips:
- Spending time in parks and outdoor green spaces. Most are free to enter and enjoy, and you can bring your own picnic!
- Cook in bulk and/or cook with flatmates instead of eating out for your meals. Shop in discount stores and in local markets.
- Use apps such as Too Good to Go, a worldwide marketplace to rescue food that otherwise might be wasted
- Attend free museums and galleries and events
