Arturo Jarque was born in Alicante where he lived and studied until he moved to the USA. He has a PhD in History and a bachelor’s degree in Geography and History from the University of Alicante. He also has a Master of Arts (History of the USA) from Louisiana State University and was a Fulbright scholar/researcher at Georgetown University in Washington DC.
Professionally speaking, Arturo Jarque was Coordinator and Director of Study Abroad programs for North American Universities at the Universidad de Alcalá, Madrid, for nine years, and Regional Director and General Manager in Spain for CEA Study Abroad for almost seven years. For two years Arturo was also CEA Assistant Dean for CEA academic programs in Spain. Arturo was a teacher too, for years, and has extensive experience in both the Spanish and American university systems developing academic programs and providing academic-related services for American students. In 2010 Arturo Jarque founded Active Learning Abroad, ALA, providing study abroad opportunities to American students and working with Faculty to develop Faculty-Led programs in different cities in Spain. Arturo likes to travel, cook, read and spend time with family and friends over long-lasting after meals. He also likes to practice paddle tennis and spend time on the Spanish Mediterranean coast.
