From time to time (but hopefully never!), you may require medical attention while abroad in Dublin. Minor ailments can generally be treated with over-the-counter medication after consulting with a pharmacist at a local pharmacy. Accidents and emergencies require more immediate attention at a facility. Always know your insurance information and the costs involved in seeking medical treatment abroad.

Due to the high cost of attending the Accident & Emergency department, it is recommended that a student only visits A&E in the case of a genuine emergency. In all other cases, the student should first refer to a GP. A student referred to the A&E department by a GP will not incur any charge.
