Ike Mohar was born and bred in the Midwestern US before moving out to California in his teens. While getting his BA in Sociology at the University of California Santa Barbara, Ike studied abroad for a semester in the UK at the University of Sussex. He fell in love with everything British and, after graduating, he moved to London in 2008.
While pursuing a MA in Filmmaking from Goldsmiths University of London, Ike joined the Student Life Team at FIE in early 2009 as a Residence Life Supervisor and has been a writing support tutor since 2011. Ike is also involved in Diversity and Inclusivity at FIE and the FIGS initiative, with particular interest in Communities of Color and with LGBTQ and Allied students. Ike is PhD candidate at University of Southampton, researching the reception and distribution of British film in the conservative areas of the US Well-travelled and well-versed in London culture, Ike is happy to be part of the WST team at FIE, and often shares with students the secret to translating American writing styles for British lecturers.
