FIE is a community of staff, faculty, and students that prides itself on its diversity and inclusivity. We cultivate a welcoming, supportive, fair, and inclusive living, learning, and working environments, where the rights and dignities of all the community members are embraced and respected.

OUR COMMITMENT

FIE recognizes the importance of ensuring that our practices, policies, and procedures are ethical, inclusive, sustainable, and in line with our core values. To that end, FIE continues to be on the forefront of innovation in study abroad with a Diversity & Inclusivity Committee to centralize our efforts and give our students the best possible experience while with us in London, Dublin, Madrid, Barcelona or Amman.

Any member of our standing Diversity and Inclusivity Committee is always on hand to discuss any new initiatives, ideas, and questions about our values and D&I at FIE. If you have any general or personal enquiries about Diversity & Inclusivity at FIE please email This email address is being protected from spambots. EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES

The Foundation for International Education (FIE) is committed to the principle of equal opportunity in education and employment. In the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, employment policies, internship policies, scholarship programs and other internally administered programs and activities, FIE does not discriminate against individuals on the basis of: race, color; nationality, ethnic, traveller community or national origin; sex and sexual orientation; gender, gender identity or expression; marital or civil status; pregnancy and parental status; religion, belief, or lack of religion/belief; age; disability; genetic information; military-connected or veteran’s status. In its commitment to ensuring an environment that is welcoming and respectful to all, FIE proactively undertakes initiatives and actions to create an environment that welcomes diverse populations.

DIGNITY & FAIRNESS AT FIE

The ‘Dignity and Fairness at FIE’ policy provides a statement of FIE’s commitment in providing an environment that is free from any harassment, bullying, victimization, and discrimination, and aims to:

  • Outline the different legislations followed by FIE
  • Define harassment, bullying, victimization, and discrimination
  • Define FIE’s stance towards the above behaviors, and
  • Provide a framework of support

This document reinforces the good intentions of our various policy statements (harassment, safe spaces, zero tolerance, and equal opportunities) while giving them further definition and pulling together. This policy serves as a behavioral guidance for all FIE community members who are expected to read, familiarise themselves, and comply with this policy, making sure that harassment, discrimination, victimization, and bullying does not happen, and investigated promptly and effectively if any of these concerns occur.

ZERO TOLERANCE

FIE is committed to fostering a living and learning environment that is free from harassment, discrimination, victimization, and bullying. We strive to develop an atmosphere in which no member of the FIE community feels under threat or intimidated. FIE operates a zero-tolerance policy to these types of behavior and, as such, any allegations of this nature will be taken very seriously. If substantiated, disciplinary action will be taken.

PRE-APPLICATION IDENTITY & DIVERSITY QUERIES

Study abroad students of all backgrounds face unique challenges in adjusting to their host country and cultural nuances. FIE encourages students to reflect that as a study abroad student, you bring more than just physical belongings with you to the host country, but also your personal culture, background, experience, values, interests, and identity.

FIE seeks to support students with their adjustment process as much as possible. As you are preparing to apply for your FIE study abroad program, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions, concerns, and support needs around aspects related to your identity, such as diversity, background, LGBTQ+, religion and faith, first-generation, disabilities, veteran or any other aspects related to your own self.

If you are interested in setting up a time to talk with an FIE staff member about these concerns, please email our Diversity & Inclusivity Leads at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
